Los Gigantes Tenerife

Jet Ski Los Gigantes Safari

The wildest ride on the island — 600m volcanic cliffs

Los Gigantes — 'The Giants' — are sheer volcanic cliffs that drop 600 metres straight into the Atlantic on Tenerife's west coast. They are the most dramatic natural feature on the island and the jet ski safari along their base is the single most iconic water experience in the Canary Islands. The full Los Gigantes safari departs from Puerto Colón and takes roughly 2-3 hours round-trip, passing the dolphin protected zone on the way.

Jet Ski Safari Los Gigantes — The Cliffs Tour

You can see the Los Gigantes cliffs from a boat, from the road, or from a catamaran — but a jet ski is the only way to ride right up to the rock face. The water at the base of the cliffs is 300 metres deep and so dark it looks black. Sea birds nest in crevices, the cliffs amplify every sound, and on calm mornings you'll be the only engine within kilometres. This tour is not for complete beginners — the round trip is 2-3 hours of open Atlantic riding, with swell that picks up past Palm-Mar. We grade this route 'adventure' level. You'll be accompanied by a lead instructor on a separate jet ski, and groups are kept small (max 4 skis) for safety.

Jet Ski Los Gigantes Route — Puerto Colón to Cliffs

From Puerto Colón the safari heads west past La Caleta, Playa Paraíso and Playa San Juan. About 40 minutes in you enter the whale-and-dolphin protected zone where pilot whales (resident year-round) and bottlenose dolphins frequently surface. At the base of the cliffs you slow down for 10-15 minutes of riding right against the rock, then stop for photos at the natural cove where sea caves open beneath the cliff face. The return leg is faster, often with the wind behind you. Total on-water time: ~2 hours. Total trip with briefing and return to marina: 2.5-3 hours.

The first-time learning minutes happen in calm Puerto Colón before the safari starts. The open-water route to Los Gigantes is an adventure-grade ride — we recommend it for people comfortable with speed and swell. Passengers (8+) can ride without any experience.

Yes. The cliffs are the destination — every safari rides along their full 2 km length. Weather cancellations are rare (about 15 days per year, mostly January-February). If we cancel for safety, you get a full refund or reschedule.
